True Data: Enabling Businesses to Harness the Full Potential of Data

,Hiroyuki Yonekura, President and CEO, True DataHiroyuki Yonekura, President and CEO
Analysts spend nearly 80 percent of their time finding, cleaning, and organizing data, which could be better spent on actual data analysis. The data structure is made usable, and its relevance is established after considerable effort. In addition, once the data is refined, its cross-functional use must also be enabled to harness its full potential.

True Data addresses these challenges through its big data platform. It empowers its clients to monitor consumer and market trends while enabling alternative data utilization for various businesses, which cannot be delivered by retail data alone.

“We manage Japan’s shopper data of 4.8 trillion yen and 60 million consumers, one of the biggest among marketing companies. We have also built a platform in the cloud that provides a one-stop service for the three essentials of data utilization: data, technology, and utilization know-how,” says Hiroyuki Yonekura, president and CEO at True Data. These include:

    • A big data platform handling purchasing data from consumers across Japan.
    • Development and provision of data analysis including POS/ID-POS and purchasing behavior analysis solutions for retailers and consumer goods manufacturers.
    • Data marketing support.
The company integrates all connected retailer data statistically and operates it to extract market-level consumer purchase behavior insights. In addition to providing retailers and CPG manufacturers with its solutions, True Data also operates an ecosystem that offers connected purchase data from the retail industry to external parties, creating a new monetization model.

The platform provides two main types of data, ID-POS (Loyalty Data) and consumer behavior data. In contrast to POS data, which looks at product sales, ID-POS data allows clients to understand who purchased it. Coming from multiple retailers, True Data manages and provides it daily. Integrating the ID-POS data with other market and consumer big data, it conducts a deep dive analysis to understand consumers from various angles. Through such optimization of assets, True Data effectuates data-driven transformation of its clients’ businesses, including CPG manufacturers, retailers, and financial industries.

To make data analyzable, True Data provides numerous one-stop services, from data cleansing, storage, and management to analysis and visualization. It offers them as a solution according to the process to ensure value provision. This, in turn, frees clients from inefficient workloads and problems before they start data analysis and enables them to focus on more strategic work than administrative tasks.

We have built a platform in the cloud that can provide a one-stop service for the three essentials of data utilization: data, technology, and utilization know-how

In addition to the POS/ID-POS data received from retailers, the True Data platform integrates open data that represents local consumers, such as the number of households and annual incomes, and other consumer big data to create solutions tailored to the client’s needs. Clients can leverage True Data’s SaaS solutions and incorporate its data into their existing solutions for various purposes, including customer understanding, product strategy, sales promotion, advertising optimization, production, inventory management, and more.

True Data’s SaaS products are automated platforms with sophisticated UI and UX that allow clients to intuitively analyze the data without reading complicated manuals. In addition to its data connectivity for retailers, True Data has a strategic partnership with Planet Co., which operates data infrastructure for the supply chain in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, to create a data hub. Leveraging the partnership, True Data plans to build a data hub that will enable all stakeholders to understand the supply chain via effective data connectivity from production to sales in retail stores.
